BREAKING: Sun Moon University confers Aisha Buhari with honorary doctorate degree

Wife of President Muhamamdu Buhari, Aisha Buhari has been conferred with honourary doctorate degree by Sun Moon University, Asan, South Korea. NAIJ.com gathers that the Nigerian first lady was honoured with a Doctor of Philosophy in public administration (Honoris Causa). Recall that Mrs Buhari arrived Seoul ahead of her conferment, which held today, Monday, August 13, 2018. An earlier report by NAIJ.com said that the Sun Moon University in South Korea awarded the president's wife with a honorary doctorate degree in humanities. 


The award was disclosed by Professor Hong Young-Shik of the political science department of the university, who led a team to pay a courtesy visit on the wife of the president on Thursday, June 21, at the presidential villa.

The letter conveying the award read: “I have been directed to notify you, Your Excellency, on the decision of the University to confer on you, a meritorious Doctor of Humanity (Hon. Causa).”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha Buhari, urged women and girls to further their education so that they could avail themselves of opportunities that may arise in the future. She gave the advice on Thursday, December 14, 2018 at the closing ceremony of the Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Training Programme initiated and sponsored by her pet project, Future Assured.
Aisha said: "When I got married, I had only the secondary school qualification. I didn’t know that my husband would become president, but I continued with my education and this is where God has brought me to today." It was also reported that Aisha Buhari expressed worry over the alarming rate of codeine consumption among Nigeria youths. She called on relevant stakeholders to tackle the rising cases of drug abuse among youths in Nigeria. Mrs Buhari, who expressed the concern on Tuesday, May 1, on her Instagram page, said it was alarming the rate at which the younger generation of Nigerians, especially in the north, engaged in substance abuse.
