The popular Nollywood legend, Pete Edochie has revealed why kneeling down to propose to a woman means handing over his destiny to the woman.
He said this in an interview at a film location that it's not in our culture for a man to kneel down for a woman.
Let me emphasis it. The very young man who gets down on his kneel to propose to a girl is not just an idiot, is a bloody fool, is a compound boffo. I believe what I'm saying is simple. We try to copy white people, right. I believe in psycho sanctity of our culture, the essence, the core of our culture. The white man kneels down to propose to a girl, you know what it means? The girl takes over the family. This is why whenever you disagree with you wife overseas, you are kicked out and your wife takes the house, don't you people know that?
He added that when a young man kneels down for his wife, He has hand over his destiny.
He continued that he has lived with his wife for 51 years and no one has ever come to say "please stop beating this woman..."
See video here:
Prior to this was a trending attack on Pastor Adeboye, who said men shouldn't marry Ladies who can't cook. This has also generated a controversy over the social media.
See what people are saying on Twitter:
Papa Adeboye (who has been married for 53 years) and Pete Edochie (who has been married for 51 years) shared their views on marriage and relationship, you're bashing them.
You that can't even keep a relationship for 6 months forming woke on Twitter with your cheap data. Radarada! -Ajayi Taiwo.
Kneeling is symbolic.
When pple kneel to pray, or when Knights kneel to kings, it's to pledge loyalty & devotion.
Men do it during proposals for the same reason.
But Pete Edochie thinks it means the lady takes over d family.
Maybe he's only wise in movies like they said. - Adunni Achebe.
Twitter user: I won't kneel for my husband on my traditional wedding day.
Feminist: Yaaas girl. Preaaaach.. As it should be. Why should we kneel?
Pete Edochie: It is very wrong for a man to kneel before his wife in the name of proposing.
Feminists: Release the Kraken!!!!!! @kingsletnovich
I stand with Pete Edochie. Spoke like a true Igbo man đđ
We copy too much, look how we now pay more attention to the white wedding rather than our own traditional wedding.
This days you won't even know when they do trad next thing they're inviting you for white wedding

“I strongly believe in MY culture”
Pete Edochie
He stated his reasons for not supporting a man kneeling but you that know nothing about HIS culture feel he‘s stupid & unwise for saying that.
The world will know peace when we listen to understand. -@Tife_fabunmi
