The accounts of some fundraisers for the #Endsars protesters had been frozen since October 19 by a court order in which the Central Bank of Nigeria authorized the banks to effect the action on November 6, 2020.
The judge of the Federal High Court of Abuja, Justice Ahmed Mohammed granted the request to freeze accounts in First Bank of Nigeria, Access Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank, United Bank of Nigeria, Zenith Bank, and Fidelity Bank.
However, Stanbic Bank rejected the order by the Apex bank said it's against their customer's rights.
The accounts affected are Chima David Ibunjoh, Ebere Idibie, Akintomide Lanre Yusuf, Bassey Victor Isreal, Bolatito Rachel Oduala, Mary Doose, Kpengwa, Saadat Temitope Bibi, Wisdom Busaosowo Obi, Nicholas Ikhalea Osazele, Uhuo Ezenwayi Promise, Mosopefoluwa Odeseye, Akintomide Lanre Yusuf, Adegoke Pamilerin Yusif, and Victor Solomon.
Others are Idunu A. Williams, Umoh Grace Ekaneh, Mary Oshifowora, Babatunde Segun Victor, Mulu Loius Teneghan, Winifred Akpevweoghene Jacob, and Gatefield Nigeria Limited.
The decisions, however, does not go well with young Nigerians have vowed to boycott all banks involved by closing all accounts and withdraw their money.
