The Nigerian Government has set aside 142.3b to feed 9.86million Children under the Home-Grown School feeding in the year 2021 and also deworm seven million children and recount them.
The proposed allocation for the NGHSPF accounts for 40.5 percent of the total recurrent expenditure of the National Social Programs domiciled under the Ministry of Human Affairs, which was created in 2019.
Our Correspondent gathered that the 142.3b is for the feeding of about 10million children, deworming of seven million children pupils in primary one to three in all the 36 states across the country, and 60,000 out-of-school children, payment of cooks and farmers that would be engaged.
The National Assembly joint Committees on Poverty Alleviation detailed this in a document exclusively obtained by the newspaper which the committees submitted to the Senate in October.
The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs also told the National Assembly in the coming year, it would expand its program to target additional five million children in conventional and non-conventional area schools under the Alternate program.
Also, 2.7b is planned to be used for the feeding utensils, devices for capturing, and apron for cooks for the feeding program.
The amount billed for the NGHSPF is a slice from the N400b-N350b recurrent and N50b capital expenditure proposed to the National Assembly for implementation of NSIP in 2021.
