The UK government has approved the use of Pfizer/BioNTech covid-19 for public use. It is the first country to give go ahead with the vaccine. In November the Pfizer announced that it had developed a vaccine that could offer 95 percent protection agaist covid-19.
The British Health Regulator said the vaccine is safe for public use. According to BBC, the UK hs placed an order of 40million doses that will be enough to vaccinate 20million people with two doses each.
The vaccination is schedule to start within days in the country. The vaccine is touted to be the fastest ever produced as it took ten months to be developed.
The feat of Mordena a US company has another breakthrough story in the development of an effective vaccine against covid-19. The company has developed a vaccine that offers over 70 percent protection againsst the infection.
It is currently seeking the approval of the US Food and Drug Administration for a mass roll out of the vaccine. There over 64million people who have been infected with the virus and 1.5million deaths globally recorded.
