The rumour of a possible defection to the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, of Uche Nwosu, the son inlaw of the former governor of Imo State, and Senator representing Orlu zone, Senator Rochas Okorocha gathered more strength, as Evang. Darlington Ibekwe, the special media consultant to the 2019 Action Alliance AA governorship candidate was yesterday spotted in the company of Mr. AIC Akwarandu, the Special Adviser on New Media to the former governor of Imo State, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha.
The duo were sighted in the company of other PDP faithfuls, including the elder brother of AIC Akwarandu, Surveyor Chiemeka Akwarandu at the burial ceremony of the father of the Coordinator of Ihedioha New Media Center, Mr. Ebube Mbah at Orodo, in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.
It can be recalled, that Ibekwe was sighted in a picture, with the New Media Director of the Imo State chapter of the PDP, Mr. Collins Opurozor, at the Imo State PDP Headquarters, barely a week ago.
This is coming as news of a likely defection to the PDP, of the former Chief of Staff to the former Imo State governor broke last week.
Ibekwe is a special media consultant to Uche Nwosu, and his visits to members of the PDP, have strengthened the defection rumours.
The Rochas Okorocha faction of the All Progressives Congress APC in the state, have lost out in the struggle for the control of the party in the state, to the Hope Uzodinma faction, led by Chief Marcon Nlemigbo.
Okorocha's and his co-travellers have refused to revalidate their membership of the party, fuelling speculations of a possible defection from the APC to the PDP.
The former governor have neither confirmed or denied defection rumour, neither have the PDP reacted to it, rather the constant sighting of members of the Okorocha political family, and PDP members, especially Ihedioha's supporters, have strengthened the rumour of a likely defection in the near future.
