The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said it has concluded arrangements to challenge the results of the state’s July 16 governorship election at the election petition tribunal.
APC chairman in the state, Gboyega Famodun disclosed this at a press conference held at the party secretariat in Osogbo, yesterday.
Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeated incumbent Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the APC.
Famodun said the counsels to the party and that of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola have told them that “We have a strong case and we believe we will win at the court.”
Meanwhile, the Osun State Chapter of PDP described APC’s move as “a wasteful voyage and an exercise in futility.”
A statement by the PDP Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr Akindele Adekunle, said APC’s decision to approach the tribunal was “anti-people and a challenge of God’s will”.
“PDP is not afraid of any election petition as the Legal Team of the PDP are always ready to defend whatever petition the APC is bringing, reiterating that the petition would be dead on arrival anytime it comes,” it said.
